Menège Rules

  • Authorised personnel ONLY. If you are not stabled at Dewsnap Equestrian, you must seek authorisation from the yard owners and pay before entering the menège.

  • No smoking.

  • Ask permission before entering if menège is already in use.

  • Ask permission from all other occupants before leaving.

  • Gates must be closed while menège is in use and upon leaving.

  • You must wear hard hats (to the current safety standard), gloves and suitable riding footwear when lunging, riding or long reining.

  • Riders must pass left hand to left hand.

  • Faster horses take the outside track.

  • In the event of a loose horse, bring all other horses to a halt until loose horse is caught.

  • Report an accident immediately to a member of staff. An accident log will be made.

  • All equipment used must be removed from the menège after use and store neatly in its designated area.

  • Remove all droppings from the menège and place in the designated area.

  • All equipment including jumps can be used at rider’s own risk. Please respect this equipment.

  • Please let other users know if your horse is unused to sharing a menège so that they can give you a wide berth and avoid passing at too fast of a pace.

  • All children under the age of 16 must be supervised by an adult over 18 at all times when using the menège.

  • Limit of 2 horses in the menège at one single time.

  • A riding perpetual MUST be filled out before entering the menège. This only needs to be done once and then will be kept on file. 

REMEMBER it is your responsibility to pass on these rules to any visitors that you ask up here, any of your visitors breaking rules or causing damage will be directly answerable by yourselves.

We are not responsible for any accidents caused to you, your horse or your visitors whilst on the premises.
